Giulio Potenza (°1990) started the piano at the age of six and has since then established himself as a respected concert pianist, teaching and performing extensively.
He has been invited to play at prestigious international festivals and venues including the Martha Argerich’s Lugano Project of Lugano, the Bangkok International Piano Festival , the Duettissimo Festival in Krakow, Palermo Classica International Festival, Fringe Edinburgh Festival, Hammamett International Piano Festival in Tunisia, I concerti del Quirinale (Rai Radio 3), Hammerklavier International Piano Series of Barcellona, Grieg in Bergen International Music Festival, the Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Wien, Grieg in Bergen Festival of Bergen, Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto, Classix Festival of Iasi in Romania, Filarmonia of Oviedo, St. John’s Smith Square, Ruth Lilly Concert Hall of Indianapolis, Munetsugu Hall and Asake Plaza in Japan, Teatro Politeama and Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Sala dei Giganti in Padova, Grieg Hall in Bergen, Teatro Antico of Taormina, Aula Seriene in Oslo, Auditorium Bernanos in Paris, and the Theter aan de parade in Hertogenbosch. As a soloist, he has performed with the Florence Symphony Orchestra, the Palermo Classica Festival Orchestra, the University of London Symphony Orchestra, the Exeter Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Italiana, the North Beds Orchestra, the Luglio Musicale Trapanese Orchestra under the baton of conductors as Piero Bellugi Jan Kaznowski, Marek Wroniszewski, Daniel Capp, Arturo Serna, Alberto Maniaci.
He has collaborated with many renowned artists such as Anton Niculescu, Silvia Mazzon, Desiree Rancatore, Alessandro Cirrito , Oda Voltersvik, Jose Menor, Andrea Bacchetti, Vincenzo Balzani, Antonello Farulli, Daniel Rivera, Gabriele Baldocci, Stefano Farulli, Nicolas Dupont.
His recitals and recordings have been broadcast by BBC Radio 3, Rai Radio 3, the Swiss Classical Radio, Radio Musiq 3, Radio Klara, Radio Vaticana and Rai National Television. He has recorded cds for Da vinci classics label, Velut luna label and Bam International.
Giulio has won prizes at several important piano competitions including the Hanna Brooke prize for piano, for his excellence in the concert career at the Trinity Laban Conservatory; 2nd prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition of New York (2016);) “Highly Commended Award” at the Jacques Samuel Piano Competition of London (2012).
He is professor of piano at the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Music in Palermo (Italy) and artistic director of the Suoni Panteschi Chamber Music Festival of Pantelleria. He regularly gives master classes in the UK and abroad (Trinity Laban of Music and Dance London, Krakow Academy of Music, George Enescu University of Arts in Iasi, Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania, Assumtpion University of Bangkok etc.).
Giulio Potenza holds a Postgraduate Degree, Postgraduate Artist Diploma Degree and ISP Advanced Diploma from the Trinity Laban Conservatorie of Muisc and Dance of London with Distinction. He has been selected as part of the renown International Piano Foundation Theo and Petra Lieven of Hamburg.
Furthemore he holds a Bachelor in History from University of Palermo. He completed his undergraduate music studies at the conservatory of Trapani (Italy).
